Meet the original DREAM TEAM, Bob and Barbara Breden
of POMBREDEN'S POMERANIANS *Estab 1962
We have been married for 50 years and received our first pom, Barbie's Cuddles, a cream female from my parents as a wedding present. We purchased a very tiny red male and produced our first litter the year our daughter was born in 1962. We sold our first litter to a breeder for $50 per puppy and thought that was wonderful UNTIL we had a man stop by wanting to see Susie's mother. Well, I told him our daughter's name was not Susie. It was then he told us that his pom female, Susie, was winning all over the state of Indiana and that he knew the breeder he purchased her from was not the breeder of his Susie. WE WERE!! It was then we found out he paid more for the ONE puppy than we had received for the WHOLE litter of 5 puppies. It was then that we started to study pedigrees and found that our Cuddles was from a wonderful line with alot of Moneybox. We moved back to Calif. and had her bred to a Ch. Dutchmaster son. She had 3 pups, all girls and we kept them all. That was the beginning of Pombredens Pomeranians
We purchased the kennel 35 years years ago when we decided to become REALLY serious about the color breeding aspect of POMBREDENS. People really thought we were crazy for even considering breeding for colored pomeranians. Our first colors were in the whites 36 years ago, then into the partis and chocolates shortly after that. It wasn't long we even were breeding for blues, wolf sables, and THEN the lavenders cropped up. It has been such a wonderful God blessed journey. We were so upset with our show friends' putting us down because of the color, that when we decided to show a black & white parti, Toy Boy, we sent him to the east coast to show. We felt that if people were going to talk bad about the color, at least we wouldn't have to hear it. Lo and behold God pulled off a "little" miracle for us when Toy came back to us as CHAMPION POMBREDEN'S HEAVENLY TOY BOY. He was not only a champion but had done it with ALL majors, at a NATIONAL POM SPECIALTY with 165 poms (some Best in Show winners around the country) entered. When he won that one he was then off to show at the WESTMINSTER SHOW. Toy was the first particolor that had ever gone into the Westminister Show when he was shown in 1988. Now we have the only blue merle female champion, Ch. Pombreden's Kauai Blue O-Ce-An, in the world. The one and only boy champion is on the east coast. O-Ce-An was expertly shown and finished by Curtis Smith
We have a passion for poms,a passion for color, for family, for people but most of all we have a passion for our Lord. We have seen so many REAL miracles in our 50 years together. From a son that drowned in a pool and should have been brain dead, to being told that same son would not live past 6 years old. We saw the hand of Satan time after time try to take him from us but a much higher power stayed his attempts every time. You would have loved our son should you meet him. Everyone told us there was something so different about him, and there was. You sensed the hand of God upon him and we were blessed to call our son our pastor, for 15 years. Then another son, who had a one in a million chance of being conceived, and then his mother was told she must abort him because the one and only kidney she had that was sustaining her own life had shut down. We prayed and KNEW beyond a shadow that God would see us through, and He did. We have seen a daughter that was barren for 17 years of marriage. Please check out each of their pages to see the miracles we have seen over the years.
